Our Las Madres Spotlight Blog- Jennifer Ing

Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Without their willingness to go above and beyond, Las Madres would not have such an amazing community spirit. For this edition of our Spotlight Blog, we would like to recognize Jennifer Ing as the Las Madres Spotlight Member.

Jennifer is a member of the CC2019 playgroup, joining about one and a half years ago when her first baby she affectionately refers to as her little monster, Luna, (22 months) was born. She also has two bonus kids, Katie (11) and Christian (7).

During this past wildfire season, Jennifer lent a helping hand to those in need. Wenny Hsieh, who nominated her, told me, "I am so blown away by all the organizing and volunteering that Jennifer has done despite working full time and in the midst of pandemic and fires! She rallied for supplies for wildfire evacuees and for farm workers, and I am in awe of her generosity and determination. I hope that LM can recognize all Jennifer has done to help our local communities during these extraordinary times! Thank you so much for sharing that with us, Wenny! Jennifer has made quite the impact for people in those tough moments.

When I asked Jennifer about this, she said,"If you want something done right, you should just put some moms on it. They get the job DONE!! My friend, Grace Kau and I started "Bay Area Families Helping CZU, LNU, & SCU Fire Evacuees & Survivors" because we were just a couple of moms who wanted to help out other moms affected by the wild fires. We created an easy peer to peer model where we can connect both our mom networks. Las Madres helped seed the very first donations that reached affected families. This quickly turned into something we never thought it would grow into. We are in awe of what our community can do when we come together."

That is so true! There is so much more that can be done when we come together, and that's what Las Madres loves to do.

Thank you for all that you do for Las Madres and your community, Jennifer! Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
