Our Las Madres Spotlight Blog- Victoria Aparicio

Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization.  Without their willingness to go above and beyond, Las Madres would not have such an amazing community spirit. This week we would like to recognize Victoria Aparicio as the Las Madres Spotlight Member.

Victoria has been an active member of Las Madres since June 2018 with her son Augustine (3) and is currently the Co-Director of the South Valley/Almaden 2017 playgroup. She was also a Big Sister New Member Contact for South Valley 2019, but later passed on her role to be a more active member of the group with a 2019 child.

I love the neat story that Cynthia Granick told us, who first met Victoria and her son Augustine at a Gymboree class when their little ones were only 6-7 months old, and neither one knew about Las Madres. She said, “Our kids immediately connected. Then we stopped seeing each other in class. It wasn't until almost a year later we recognized each other at the Duck Pond. I was a member of Las Madres by then, and introduced her to our organization! The rest is history!” It just goes to show what sharing about our wonderful group can lead to!

Cynthia also had some kind words to share about Victoria, saying, “Victoria is full of creative ideas and suggestions, and she is one of the reasons why our South Valley/Almaden 2017 playgroup is able to stay connected during our current shelter-in-place. Even before COVID, she was always thinking of ways to make our group inclusive, whether through playdates at the Duckpond, engaging with fun posts on Workplace, to coordinating special events like our Easter Egg/Spring hunt or outings to the Animal Assisted Happiness Farm. Victoria is currently our South Valley/Almaden 2017 Co-Director, and previously held a Big Sister New Member Contact position for the South Valley/Almaden 2019 playgroup. When her Co-Director went into labor this year, Victoria naturally stepped up to help keep the playgroup active by posting each week in Workplace to keep us all connected and hosting virtual playdates. She always seems to have a smile, and she is always up for any adventure with her little boy. She is helping make Las Madres and South Valley/Almaden 2017 the best for all moms, families and their kids. Thank you, Victoria! We are so lucky to have you in our playgroup and organization!!!

You can see how she is someone who pours so much into Las Madres, and receives so much in return. When I asked her why she volunteers for Las Madres, she replied, ”When I  joined Las Madres it was that sense of community I was longing for. Just talking to other adults was a treat for me. I volunteer for Las Madres because I love being involved in my son’s playgroup. Whether it be a fun family event on a farm to making craft bags for everyone to take home, it brings me joy knowing that others are happy but most of all making wonderful memories that we can cherish forever.”

Thank you for all that you do for Las Madres, Victoria! It is very appreciated and enjoyed.
